Essential Functions of Position: As the Applications Engineer, you will use your development skills to integrate products and automate processes within the CM-QA team in support of our internal customers.

This position reports to the Project Manager and requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate must be able to work under strict time-lines and handle various projects at a time.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Performs a variety of systems engineering tasks and activities involving systems design, integration, and implementation
• Provides support and direction for user groups in the use of the software/hardware systems and programs to support an integrated system
• Ensures that security procedures are implemented and enforced
• Provides logistics support and training in the effective use of automated systems and data communications
• Develops automated workflows that comply with PMI/ITIL Standards using software products owned by the organization
• Develops robust web applications and web-enabled management reports
• Integrates COTS applications through web applications, UNIX and Windows shell scripts, and SQL queries
• Configures and administers required server, web server, and database environments in support of software development
• Responsible for program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation
• Has full technical knowledge and responsibility of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming
• Understands the business or function for which application is designed

Minimum Education Required:

• BA or BS or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related field.

• Ability to analyze complex situations, learn quickly, and synthesize corresponding solutions, options and action plans
• Excellent communication (written and verbal), mediation (conflict resolution) and facilitation skills
• Ability to communicate complex ideas in clear, succinct terms
• Ability to establish strong partnerships at various levels in the organization
• Knowledge of full life cycle development
• Programming ability to create SQL driven reports via web interface
• Self starter; demonstrates personal initiative and willingly assumes responsibility and ownership
• Ability to create dynamic LDAP queries

Desired Skills:

• Configuration Management and Change Management best practices
• Proven experience with CA Harvest Administrator and Workbench
• Proven experience with CA Service Desk administration including upgrade and customization
• 3 years experience in developing objected oriented PHP web applications utilizing SOAP, web services using HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and Ajax
• Familiarity with MVC architecture in PHP and available frameworks
• Experience or understanding how to generate SSL certificates and apply the certificates to servers
• IIS and Apache configuration
• Working experience with Unix/Linux. Solaris is desired
• Understanding of building and deploying Java based web applications in a Unix/Linux environment
• Windows and Unix/Linux shell scripting experience
