Mercury Load Testing Systems Administrator
Location: Washington, D.C.
Position Description: On a day to day basis, the Mercury Load Testing Systems Administrator will use his/her Mercury knowledge to install, configure, maintain and upgrade HP Mercury tools. He/she will also be responsible for supporting a team of Load Testers by creating scripts and executing scenarios simulating load and stress. In the System Administrator capacity, he/she will use his/her network monitoring and systems trouble-shooting knowledge and experience to manage/monitor change within the organization.
Hands-on experience and thorough understanding of change management, XML integrations, SQL, and network monitoring are required. This individual will also train and mentor other testers. This position reports to the Project Manager and requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate must be able to work under strict time-lines and handle various projects at a time.
- Experience using Mercury LoadRunner to script applications in enterprise environment
- Experience installing, configuring, upgrading LoadRunner and setting up the Controller
- Experience trouble-shooting LoadRunner
- Prior experience setting up and configuring IP spoofing, LoadRunner controller monitors, etc
- Experience using C or C++ programming to customize scripts
- Understanding and knowledge of load balancing
- Create, debug, customize, and execute scripts
Minimum Education Required: Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science – In an Analytical Discipline, Management Information Systems, or equivalent
Desired Experience:
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience using HP Mercury Loading system administration or network monitoring
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience in system administration or network monitoring
- Strong leadership skills with proven ability to facilitate cross-functional teams
- Excellent analytical skills and communication (written and verbal), mediation (conflict resolution) and facilitation skills
- Ability to analyze complex situations, learn quickly, and synthesize corresponding solutions, options and action plans
- Ability to communicate complex ideas in clear, succinct terms
- Ability to establish strong partnerships at various levels in the organization
- Programming ability to create SQL driven reports via web interface
- Must show enthusiasm, initiative, pride in work
Minimum Skills Required:
Knowledgeable and has an understanding of the following:
- Experience installing and configuring HP Mercury LoadRunner
- Knowledge of Systems Administration
- Knowledge of SQL queries and reporting
- Experience in Network Monitoring tools and methodologies
- Experience in change management tools and methodologies
- Experience in installing and configuring SNMP
- Experience in XML integrations
- Experience in network troubleshooting within a Windows/Solaris environment
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with customers and internal team members.
- Consistent track record of success in similar positions
Other Required Skills:
- LoadRunner scripting
- Trouble-shooting experience with Mercury products
- Knowledge of full life cycle development
