Network Systems Administrator
Minimum Qualifications for Database Administrator:
- Demonstrated experience in all the following phases of system life cycle design and development: Initiation Phase, Definition Phase, Design Phase, Programming Phase, Test Phase, Implementation Phase, and Maintenance Phase. Experience must include preparing feasibility studies or cost-benefit analyses, functional requirements documents, designing, developing, configuring and deployment of UNIX/Windows 2003/NT servers under UNIX/Windows-based environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing a networked, multi-CPU, UNIX-based, Windows-based computer system. Expert in maintaining and troubleshooting Ethernet networks, hands-on experience using network monitoring equipment including data scopes, LAN analyzers, etc. Strong troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience dealing with various cabling schemes, modems and communications protocols (TCP/IP, PPP, SLIP, etc.).
- Demonstrated expertise in performing System Administration activities using UNIX Sun Solaris 10.x and Windows Servers.
- Substantial experience in administering invasive and non-invasive approaches to system and network security including intrusion detection tools, network port scanners, vulnerability detection tools, password crackers, TCP wrappers, and other security management tools. Experience must include UNIX/Windows System as well as Network security.
- Experience in the development of comprehensive failure contingency of operations and disaster recovery plans. Experience in performing sizing and capacity planning for the hardware systems.
- Working knowledge of Software Engineering Institute’s (SEI) Capability Maturity Model (CMM) or ISO 9000 documentation and life-cycle policies.
- Substantial experience writing C/Bourne/Korn shell scripts in a UNIX environment.
- Demonstrated experience in Web Server Architecture and an understanding of a variety of Web browsers.
- Demonstrated experience providing support in a WAN environment.
- Hands-on experience with UNIX/Windows services, Internet servers, system administration tools, and backup/recovery mechanisms.
- Demonstrated experience working in and supporting a GUI UNIX environment (Common DeskTop Environment (CDE), Motif or X-Windows).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to develop and present comprehensive technical presentations.
- Capable of generating finished technical documentation using word processing software (e.g. MS-Word, WordPerfect).
- Familiar with operating in a MS-Window based LAN environment.
