Position Title: Oracle DBA Northern Virginia
Position Summary: Monitor data base performance and tune databases for optimized performance. Lead technical database design reviews. Perform. Troubleshoot highly complex database-related problems. Support database connectivity for web-based applications. Plan for upgrades/system release implementation. Applies current technology in providing MIS solutions. Provides highly technical expertise in providing business application solutions. Advises contractor project teams on the design of complex databases. Performs detailed comparisons of various database systems. Provides expertise in data storage systems. Performs administration tasks (installing, maintaining, monitoring, recovering, rebuilding, upgrading, patching and performance tuning). Implements software solutions for performance enhancement, operator interface, and increased user capability. Performs complex analysis and design of client databases. Ensures proper configuration of the database for performance, provides guidance on optimization, develops logic and physical designs, develops and maintains the data dictionary, and enforces standards for database use and security. Provide technical expertise and guidance in the logical and physical database design, development, transition, operation, and maintenance of database management systems. Conduct management studies and define data requirements. Evaluate the data processing techniques, database management, and management information system concepts and applications as they relate to customer information needs and goals. Define all required database administration policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Hands-on experience in migrating Oracle databases from an existing data center to another.
- Design and document database architecture. Data Modeling.
- Design Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence platform.
- Build database scheme, tables, procedures and permissions.
- Set up data sharing and disk partitioning.
- Develop database utilities and automated reporting.
- Create shell scripts for task automation.
- Create, test and execute data management languages.
- Analyze and sustain capacity and performance requirements.
- Analyze, consolidate and tune database for optimal efficiency.
- Monitor systems and platforms for availability.
- Oversee backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and failover.
- Restore and recover corrupted databases.
- Install and test upgrades and patches.
- Evaluate and recommend new database technologies.
Qualifications:
- College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, information sciences, or related field and/or 10 years equivalent work experience.
- Mid-level to senior DBA with 5-7years employment experience in an Oracle database administration.
- Oracle Certifications desired.
- US Citizenship a must (suitability clearance will be issued from appropriate agency)
