Position Description: The Automated Test Specialist (QTP) must be confident, communicate effectively, able to test creatively, adapt to changing requirements, estimate work effort, track assignment progress, and provide status updates to the Project Manager.

To be qualified for this position, this individual will have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field and 2–3 years of experience in an automated tester role as well as performance engineering experience. S/he must have tested in J2EE and Web 2.0 environments. He or she also must have knowledge of networks, network architecture (firewall, internet), web applications, http servers/app servers, J2EE, XML, and WSDL (web service definition language). This candidate must have experience utilizing Mercury’s Quick Test Pro (QTP) to create and customize scripts based on requirements and test cases.

The Automated Test Specialist (QTP) will spend most of their time collaborating with Developers, Analyst, Business Users, and QA Testers to develop automated test scenarios. Requirements for the position are listed below.

• Writing, maintaining, and executing test cases based on requirements or test cases or use cases
• Developing functional components in VB script using a QTP Framework
• Using object libraries, standardizing/customizing functions, scripting, and updating QTP scripts
• Maintaining QTP components
• Mentoring manual testers in automated test script development and execution
• Mapping automated tests to requirements (in Quality Center)
• Running smoke and regression threads frequently and reporting results
• Coordinating with Load and Performance testers
• Coordinating controller usage with other performance testers
• Debugging environmental and application anomalies

Minimum Education Required: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science

Desired Experience:

• 2–3 years of experience performing automation testing using QTP or similar automated test tool
• Strong leadership skills with proven ability to facilitate cross-functional teams
• Outstanding analytical skills
• Ability to analyze complex situations, learn quickly, and synthesize corresponding solutions, options and action plans
• Excellent communication (written and verbal), mediation (conflict resolution), and facilitation skills
• Ability to communicate complex ideas in clear, succinct terms
• Ability to establish strong partnerships at various levels in the organization
• Knowledge of SDLC
• Self starter; demonstrates personal initiative and willingly assumes responsibility and ownership
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio
• Must show enthusiasm, initiative, pride in work

Minimum Skills Required:

Knowledgeable and has an understanding of the following:

• VB development
• C or C++ programming
• XML
• Prior experience conducting load testing (scripting, debugging, scenario setup, executing, etc)
• Experience in installing, configuring and maintenance of QTP

Other Required Skills:

• QTP function development
• QTP framework concepts
• Full lifecycle project experience
• SQL query development
• Defect tracking tool usage
• Test management tool usage
