Sevatec Wins Air Force Courseware Conversion Contract
AFSO21 to Provide Computer-based Training to Airmen Anytime, Anywhere
Falls Church, Virginia, June 25, 2009: Sevatec, Inc. (Sevatec) announced today that the firm was selected by the United States Air Force to support its technology-based training initiatives and transformation efforts at the Randolph Air Force Base Air Education and Training Command (AETC)—the Air Force Smart Ops for the 21st Century (AFSO21). Valued at more than $20M, the objective of the AFSO21 program is to reduce temporary duty (TDY) to school costs while providing the training to Airmen anytime, anywhere. AFSO21 will help the Air Force convert approximately 3300 hours of instructor-led training (or more than 28 knowledge-based refresher or supplemental training courses) to distance learning, computer-based training (CBT) over the next 18 months.

The Air Education and Training Command (AETC) was established July 1, 1993, with the realignment of Air Training Command and Air University. It is one of ten major commands (MAJCOMs), reporting to Headquarters, United States Air Force (HQ USAF). AETC is headquartered at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Its commander is General William R. Looney III, with, Major General Mark A. Welsh III as Vice-commander, and Chief Master Sergeant Mark R. Luzader is the Command Chief Master Sergeant of Air Education and Training Command. More than 48,000 active-duty members and 14,000 civilian personnel make up AETC, and the command has responsibility for approximately 1,600 aircraft.
